About our Katy clinic

We are a rheumatology practice based in Katy, Texas, serving the communities of west Harris County, north Fort Bend County and the surrounding area. Rheumatology covers the diseases that affect joints, muscles, bones and the immune system, from rheumatoid arthritis and lupus to gout, osteoporosis and unexplained joint pain.

Having a single location is a deliberate choice. Rheumatic disease is managed over years rather than resolved in a single visit, and treatment decisions depend on how you have changed since the last appointment. Seeing the same rheumatologist each time means that history is held by the person examining you, not only by the notes.

PLACEHOLDER: practice introduction

PLACEHOLDER: add two or three sentences on when the practice was founded, why, and what distinguishes it. This is the paragraph most patients read before deciding to call, and it should be written in the physician's own words.

Our clinic is here in Katy, so specialist rheumatology need not mean a trip into the city.

Clinic location, hours and parking

Address

19002 Park Row Blvd, Suite 100, Houston, TX 77084. PLACEHOLDER: add the nearest cross streets and a recognisable landmark, since these help far more than an address alone.

Office hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Phone and fax

Main telephone: (832) 305-5226. PLACEHOLDER: fax number for referrals and records, and the best number for prescription queries.

Parking and building access

PLACEHOLDER: describe parking, whether it is free, where accessible spaces are, which entrance to use, which floor the suite is on, and whether there is a lift. Patients with painful joints ask about walking distance from the parking area more often than anything else.

Getting here

PLACEHOLDER: add directions from the Katy Freeway (I-10) and from the Grand Parkway (TX-99), including the exit numbers and the turns from each direction.

Conditions we treat

Rheumatology is broader than most people expect, and a substantial number of our patients arrive unsure whether their problem belongs here. It usually does if it involves joints, muscles, bones or the immune system.

  • Rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory arthritis
  • Psoriatic arthritis, including where psoriasis is mild or hidden
  • Lupus, Sjögren's disease, scleroderma and related connective tissue diseases
  • Axial spondyloarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and inflammatory back pain
  • Gout, pseudogout and recurrent crystal arthritis
  • Osteoarthritis where the diagnosis is uncertain or several joints are involved
  • Osteoporosis and fracture risk assessment
  • Polymyalgia rheumatica and giant cell arteritis
  • Vasculitis and inflammatory muscle disease
  • Fibromyalgia and widespread pain
  • Unexplained joint pain, fatigue, rashes and abnormal autoimmune blood tests

You do not need a diagnosis to make an appointment. Many of our patients come precisely because nobody has been able to explain what is happening.

Come with your questions written down. The first appointment is the longest one you will have with us.

Your first appointment

A first rheumatology visit is longer than a standard appointment, because most of the diagnosis comes from the history and a thorough examination rather than from any single test.

What happens

  • A detailed history: when symptoms began, which joints, how long morning stiffness lasts, and what else has been affected
  • An examination of every joint, not only the painful ones, since the overall pattern is the strongest diagnostic clue
  • Examination of the skin, nails, eyes and spine, where the answer is often found
  • Blood tests, usually arranged the same day
  • Baseline X-rays where inflammatory arthritis is suspected
  • An explanation of the working diagnosis and a plan for anything outstanding

What to bring

  • Photo identification and insurance card
  • A current list of medications and supplements with doses
  • Previous laboratory results as the actual reports, since titres and reference ranges matter
  • Imaging reports, and the images themselves where possible
  • A referral if your plan requires one
  • A written note of when symptoms began and how long morning stiffness lasts
  • Photographs of any rash or swollen joint taken on a bad day

PLACEHOLDER: confirm typical appointment length and whether new patient forms can be completed in advance.

We will examine every joint that has been troubling you, not only the one you came about.

Schedule Your Visit

Insurance, referrals and costs

PLACEHOLDER: list the insurance plans accepted, and state clearly whether Medicare and Medicare Advantage are accepted, since these are the most common questions.

PLACEHOLDER: state the referral policy. Many PPO plans allow patients to book directly while most HMO plans require a referral from a primary care physician. Say which applies here.

PLACEHOLDER: describe the self-pay option and pricing if one is offered, and how insurance verification is handled before the first visit.

Plan participation changes, so it is always worth calling to verify your coverage before your appointment rather than relying on a directory listing.

The aim is remission, or as close to it as your condition allows, and then keeping you there.

Areas we serve from Katy

Our patients come from across west Houston and north Fort Bend County. The communities we see most often are:

  • Katy and Cinco Ranch, our closest patients
  • Fulshear, along FM 1093
  • Richmond, via the Grand Parkway and FM 723
  • Rosenberg, at the southern end of the Fort Bend corridor
  • Cypress, directly north via the Grand Parkway
  • Sealy, Brookshire and Pattison, west along I-10
  • West Houston, including the Energy Corridor, Memorial and Westchase

Each of those pages sets out the routes people actually use and what tends to bring patients from that community to us.

Making an appointment

Request an appointment online and our office will call you back to arrange a time, or call during office hours to speak to us directly.

If you are unsure whether your problem is one we handle, call and ask. We would rather answer that on the phone than have you make an unnecessary trip, and we can usually tell quickly from a short description of the symptoms.

PLACEHOLDER: confirm the appointment request process, how quickly the office calls back, and what happens if a patient needs to be seen urgently.

Call the office and we will tell you what to bring and roughly how long to allow.

Talk to Our Rheumatologist

PLACEHOLDER: this is the practice's own location page. Add the confirmed parking detail, insurance list and referral policy, replace the stock photography with pictures of the clinic, and have the whole page physician-reviewed and signed.

PLACEHOLDER: confirm the referral policy. Many PPO plans allow direct booking while most HMO plans require a referral from your primary care physician.
