Rheumatologist Serving Cinco Ranch, TX

Cinco Ranch sits inside Katy, which makes our clinic one of the closest rheumatology options available to residents. For most of the community it is a short local drive rather than a trip into Houston.

Rheumatology care within your own community

Cinco Ranch is one of the largest master-planned communities in the Katy area, running roughly along Cinco Ranch Boulevard between Westheimer Parkway and the Katy Freeway corridor. Because it sits inside Katy itself rather than in a neighbouring town, our patients from Cinco Ranch have the shortest journey of anyone we see.

That matters more in rheumatology than in most specialties. These are not one-off appointments. Inflammatory arthritis, lupus and osteoporosis all involve regular reviews, repeat blood tests and dose adjustments over years. A specialist twenty minutes away rather than an hour away is the difference between attending every review and quietly skipping some.

The alternative most people consider

Many Cinco Ranch residents assume rheumatology means driving to the Texas Medical Center. For complex or research-level care that can be the right choice. For the great majority of rheumatology, including diagnosis, treatment and long-term monitoring, there is no clinical advantage that offsets an hour each way on I-10 through Houston traffic.

If joint pain has lasted more than six weeks, a specialist assessment is the quickest way to know what you are dealing with.

Getting to our Katy clinic from Cinco Ranch

Most of Cinco Ranch reaches our clinic on local roads without needing the freeway at all, which is unusual for specialist care in the Houston area.

  • From the eastern side of Cinco Ranch, Westheimer Parkway and Fry Road are the usual routes
  • From the west, Cinco Ranch Boulevard connects to the Grand Parkway (TX-99)
  • From the north of the community, Highland Knolls Drive and Mason Road run towards the Katy Freeway corridor
  • The Grand Parkway is the fastest option from the far side of the community, though many patients find surface streets quicker outside peak times

PLACEHOLDER: now that the clinic address is confirmed as 19002 Park Row Blvd, Suite 100, replace this with specific turn-by-turn directions and an accurate drive time from central Cinco Ranch, plus parking details.

Appointment timing

Traffic through Katy is heaviest around school drop-off and pick-up given the density of Katy ISD campuses in and around Cinco Ranch. Mid-morning and early afternoon appointments generally involve the easiest drive, and we can usually accommodate a preference when you book.

Being seen close to home makes it far easier to keep up with the reviews that inflammatory disease needs.

Neighbourhoods and areas we serve

We see patients from across Cinco Ranch and the immediately surrounding communities, including:

  • Cinco Ranch North and South
  • Cinco Ranch Southwest and the Ranch at Cinco
  • Grand Lakes
  • Seven Meadows
  • Kelliwood
  • Falcon Ranch
  • Silver Ranch
  • Firethorne and the surrounding Fort Bend county line communities

If your neighbourhood is not listed, that does not mean we do not serve it. These are simply the areas our Cinco Ranch patients most often come from.

What we treat

Rheumatology covers considerably more than arthritis, and patients often arrive uncertain whether their problem is one we handle. We diagnose and manage:

  • Inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid and psoriatic disease
  • Lupus and the wider family of connective tissue diseases
  • Crystal arthritis: gout and calcium pyrophosphate disease
  • Multi-joint osteoarthritis where the diagnosis has never been settled
  • Bone thinning, fracture risk, and treatment after a broken bone
  • Sjögren's disease, particularly dryness accompanied by fatigue
  • Spinal inflammation causing early-morning stiffness
  • Widespread pain syndromes including fibromyalgia
  • Symptoms nobody has yet explained, and immune tests nobody has yet interpreted

You do not need a diagnosis before making an appointment. A significant proportion of our patients come specifically because nobody has yet been able to explain what is happening.

Bring whatever results you already have. We would rather read the original reports than repeat tests unnecessarily.

A note for families in Katy ISD

Cinco Ranch skews towards families, and one thing worth saying plainly is that rheumatic disease is not only a condition of older adults. Rheumatoid arthritis most commonly begins between 30 and 60. Lupus is usually diagnosed between 15 and 45. Axial spondyloarthritis typically starts in the twenties and is one of the most frequently missed diagnoses in younger adults, often dismissed as ordinary back pain for years.

If you are in your thirties or forties with persistent joint swelling, morning stiffness lasting over an hour, or back pain that is worse after rest and better with movement, that deserves assessment rather than being attributed to work, exercise or age.

Equally, Cinco Ranch has a growing population of long-term residents who moved in when the community was new and are now in the age range where osteoporosis screening and osteoarthritis management matter. Both groups are well served by having specialist care locally.

Once the diagnosis is clear, most rheumatic conditions can be brought under control and kept there.

Start Your Treatment Plan

Bone health for long-term Cinco Ranch residents

Cinco Ranch began developing in the early 1990s, which means a substantial number of residents have now lived here for twenty-five years or more. Many bought when their children were young and have stayed. That cohort is now moving into the age range where bone health stops being theoretical.

Osteoporosis is worth raising specifically because it is silent. It causes no symptoms whatsoever until a bone breaks, and by then the opportunity for prevention has passed. About one in two women and one in four men over 50 will fracture a bone because of it.

Who should be screened

  • All women aged 65 and over, and all men aged 70 and over
  • Postmenopausal women and men over 50 with additional risk factors
  • Anyone who has broken a bone from a minor fall after the age of 50
  • Anyone taking steroids for three months or longer
  • People with rheumatoid arthritis, coeliac disease, thyroid disease or early menopause
  • Anyone whose parent fractured a hip

A DEXA scan takes about ten to fifteen minutes, involves no injection and uses less radiation than a chest X-ray. If it shows osteoporosis, treatment reduces spine fracture risk substantially. If it is normal, you have a baseline for comparison later.

The other half of preventing fractures is preventing falls, which matters as much as the bone density itself: reviewing medications that cause dizziness, keeping an eye prescription current, improving lighting on stairs, and doing balance work such as tai chi.

Booking as a new patient

New patients are welcome. Bring your photo identification and insurance card, a list of current medications with doses, any prior laboratory results or imaging reports as the actual reports rather than a summary, and a referral if your plan requires one.

  • PLACEHOLDER: confirm referral policy and which plans require one
  • PLACEHOLDER: confirm insurance plans accepted
  • PLACEHOLDER: confirm typical wait for a new-patient appointment
  • PLACEHOLDER: confirm parking arrangements

A short written note of when your symptoms began, which joints are involved and how long morning stiffness lasts is genuinely useful and takes a few minutes to prepare.

A short local drive, an unhurried appointment, and a plan you understand before you leave.

Frequently asked questions

Cinco Ranch: common questions

Do I have to drive into Houston for a rheumatologist?

No. Our clinic is in Katy, which for Cinco Ranch residents is a local drive rather than a trip into the city. For the great majority of rheumatology care there is no clinical advantage to travelling to the Texas Medical Center.

How far is the clinic from Cinco Ranch?

It is a short local journey for most of the community, and many patients reach us without using a freeway. PLACEHOLDER: add the specific distance and drive time to the clinic at 19002 Park Row Blvd.

Do you have an office in Cinco Ranch itself?

Our single clinic is in Katy, which Cinco Ranch is part of. Having one location rather than several means the same rheumatologist sees you at every visit, which matters for a condition managed over years.

Do you see younger adults?

Yes. Rheumatoid arthritis usually begins between 30 and 60, lupus between 15 and 45, and axial spondyloarthritis often in the twenties. Age is not a reason to dismiss persistent joint symptoms.

Do I need a referral?

PLACEHOLDER: confirm the practice's referral policy. Many PPO plans allow direct booking while most HMO plans require a referral from your primary care physician.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Photo identification, insurance card, a current medication list with doses, prior laboratory and imaging reports as actual reports rather than summaries, and a referral if your plan requires one.

Can I be seen if my tests were normal?

Yes, and many of our patients are in exactly that position. Normal blood tests exclude some conditions but not all, and several diagnoses rest on the examination rather than on blood work.

What if I need care between appointments?

Between visits, please call the office at (832) 305-5226 during office hours. Outside office hours, the same number connects you to our answering service.
